Glenna has administered the Woodcock-Johnson III & IV Achievement Test since 2002 and has administered the IOWA Test of Achievement since 2007.

She stayed at UNCC and worked as a graduate assistant for the volleyball team, coaching, and recruiting.  Once out of college, Glenna was offered the head coaching job at Coastal Carolina University in SC. Glenna opted to not coach at Coastal Carolina and returned home to Asheville, NC to teach and coach high school volleyball. Glenna coached high school volleyball at both T.C. Roberson and Erwin High School in the Asheville area. Glenna had to stop coaching high school volleyball due to a growing family and teaching career. So, Glenna became a middle school and high school volleyball official for several years. TESTIMONIALS

Glenna is unprecedented in the work she does. I want her to be the tester of my children indefinitely. She is phenomenal. She communicates clearly and explains everything so I can understand.

~Lindsay J.

Glenna was amazing, very patient with my children and was willing to explain and answer all the questions I had. She listened to all my concerns. She was patient and understanding when they needed to get up and move around.

~Katie C.

My sister recommended this test and I wanted this done to identify gaps in my kid's learning, if any. This was very helpful and gave some reassurance about their current knowledge as well as points to focus on in the future. Glenna was patient with the kids and explained all the results. I appreciate the feedback and the results being emailed.

We were referred by a church friend the first year we tested with Glenna. We continue to test with her because she has been an invaluable resource and guide with understanding where the kids are testing and directing us for growth in the upcoming year. She has been an encouragement and we all look forward to working with her each year! Glenna is very responsive to my questions, not only about testing, but also about materials and other things throughout the year. The kids look forward to working with Glenna and always come out of testing calm and relaxed. Glenna is authentic and approachable, even when I'm feeling overwhelmed or unsure of the new challenges my family will face in schooling. I feel like I can ask her about anything, and confident that she will turn me in a profitable direction.

The Woodcock Johnson is so helpful for helping me know how to educate my kiddo. Especially because he is a struggling reader.

Multiple friends have recommended S.M.A.R.T. for testing. It was very helpful to understand where my children are currently in their education journey in order to assist me in preparing for their upcoming school year. She was very responsive to questions and worked with me to schedule a time/place that was convenient for our schedule. Both of my children responded well to her. They are both already asking for her to test them again next year. She was able to give me insight into my kids’ weaknesses and strengths. Glenna was also able to give me suggestions on how to help them over the summer and for the coming school year.

This is our 10th year testing with Glenna of SMART. We have continued test with her and doing the Woodcock Johnson test because Glenna gives us great feedback on how are children are doing with their schoolwork. She’s able to tell us specific areas to work on and what our children are excelling in. She makes our homeschool journey easier with this information. She always allows my children to take breaks as needed and encourages them to try to go further. The information she gives us on each child’s struggles and strengths help us know what needs to be worked on the upcoming school year. We have been very thankful to be able to work with Glenna and SMART over the years she have given us invaluable feedback on how to help our children learn to the best of their abilities.

I chose the Woodcock Johnson because I wanted to have a complete look at how my kids learn and where their weaknesses and strengths are. It has been very helpful to know how to help them where they struggle and what will benefit them where they have a strength. This information helps so much to know how to teach my kids for the following year. She knows kids well so tests in a way that they are comfortable. Glenna is very thorough on the feedback letting me know how they did on their testing and what those results speak to. She also gives helpful tips and curriculum suggestions. I'm just thankful to get the feedback to know how to teach for the next school year.

Glenna has been extremely thorough and helpful since the first time we tested with her 5 or 6 years ago. She gives individual attention to my kids and her kind, gentle and honest encouragement has helped me guide both my boys through some tumultuous times. So thankful for her expertise. She emailed and even texted reminders and made the whole process a breeze! I have one son who is dyslexic, and one who is not, but she treats them both with high value and respect. I so appreciate her willingness to help me understand what I can do to equip them for their future. The feedback was clearly explained and suggestions were very helpful as well.

~Tonya M.

I chose to test with Glenna because of her knowledge. Testing with Glenna has been a huge help for us each year to see where our children are at and how to plan for the next school year. Glenna is so helpful and knowledgeable and takes time to answer all of my questions. She always communicates well and effectively. Glenna always puts my children at ease so they can do their best. She takes time to explain everything and answer any question and is very thorough and encouraging. We have worked with Glenna for years and love the feedback we get. We highly recommend her to all our friends.

Testing has provided us with great insight at to our children's knowledge levels and learning rates. We found Glenna, our S.M.A.R.T. testing associate, through a homeschool group at our local church. Glenna is the real reason we use S.M.A.R.T. testing as she explains the reports and is familiar with appropriate curriculums and implementation methodologies that aid in the learning process. My children's homeschool journey has been greatly enriched due to Glena and her guidance. I like to get an additional 30 min consultation so we really have time to discuss each child thoroughly. This is the most important part in my opinion as it helps me understand my kids needs. She has valuable input that we lean on through the year. This input has really helped us! This year we are focusing on using Expanded Notation to through the various mathematical operations to better grasp the concepts and learning cursive. She really understands the learning process and I always leave with a few pages of notes to review and support our learning journey. I hope we have the pleasure of testing with her for years to come.

Glenna Toney is fantastic! Provided so much insight into my students last year and gave me so many practical ideas; I'm confident that our school year is going to be so much more productive because of that guidance! I can't recommend her highly enough!

Glenna, I was just thinking of you and wanted to reach out and let you know that the impact you made on the lives of my girls and family will always be remembered and appreciated. We all cherish the memories spent with you for so many years.  You have really spent your life investing into others, and I am so thankful my family was part of your journey.  Lots of love,

~Tara

Glenna is amazing. She has tested all 3 of my kids since they were old enough to test. They never worry about test day and look forward to seeing Glenna each year. Even after we moved out of NC, she has still tested my kids. She will make your children feel welcome and comfortable and make the testing day so much easier. I have always used the Woodcock-Johnson and highly recommend it as well.
